Tricky Words: Tricky Word Cards

Small Group: Tricky Word Practice

Chaining: Large Card Chaining

The Teacher Guide: contains background information and resources that the teacher will need to implement Unit 1, including an alignment chart between this unit and the Common Core State Standards; an introduction including planning tools, a list of strand components, goals and objectives, and an explanation of lesson format, components, and assessment.

Big Book: The teacher will work with a Big Book to engage students in the reading process.

Reader: All Readers for Grade 1 is 100% decodable, meaning they only use words and spellings that have been explicitly taught and practiced. Students will begin to read decodable stories about halfway through Unit 1.

Workbook: The Workbook contains worksheets which accompany many of the lessons from the teacher guide for the Unit.

The Assessment and Remediation Guide: contains information for teachers on instructional planning and lesson structures for levels of instructional need, and offers two sections of lessons and activities focusing on phonics as well as fluency and comprehension.
